Katie is Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of Illinois. She obtained her Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology from Illinois State University, and her Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from Lewis University.  She has been working in the fields of psychology and criminal justice for over 20 years.  Katie’s experience is in a mixture of settings including the court and prison system, hospital based mental health services and private practice. 


As a therapist, Katie creates a positive, warm, nurturing, and safe atmosphere where individuals can be supported in their efforts to grow and change. Katie strives to establish a strong therapeutic rapport with her clients and considers it to be instrumental to their growth in therapy.  She believes therapy should be an experience tailored to fit each client's needs. Katie is known amongst her colleagues in the field for her empathetic but direct approach with some humor imparted along the way.  She enjoys helping her clients recognize their individual potential and is passionate about her work.  An integral therapist, Katie combines evidence-based strategies from a variety of therapies including client centered, trauma focused, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and strength and values-based therapies. 


Katie specializes in treating trauma, grief/loss issues, and first responders with an emphasis on law enforcement officers. Katie is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and Certified Grief Counseling Specialist. Katie also regularly treats anxiety, depression, crisis intervention, women's issues, life transitions, interpersonal conflict and marriage/family issues.  Katie sees a wide base of clients including children, adolescents and adults.
